Сейчас пожар потушили, но в воздух начали выделяться токсичные вещества. На судне находилось более 52 тысяч килограммов химикатов. Zim Kingston 2008 года постройки выполнял рейс из Пусана в Ванкувер. Пожар начался из-за шторма, в который попало судно. Часть контейнеров оказалась повреждена и загорелась.
В понедельник, если позволят погодные условия, на судно высадятся пожарные, чтобы потушить оставшиеся очаги. Если им это удастся, судно останется на якоре у порта Виктория в Британской Колумбии.
